JERUSALEM (Reuters) – The Israeli army said three “neutral” soldiers on Tuesday opened fire on a car in the West Bank city of Nablus.
The army, in a statement, did not state the condition of the three people but the Israeli Army Radio said they were killed.
There was no immediate comment from Palestinian officials.
Palestinian TV showed footage of military vehicles blocking access to the scene, including an ambulance, as soldiers appeared to carry out inspections.
Violence in the West Bank has escalated for more than a year, with Israeli incursions, Palestinian street attacks and attacks on Palestinian villagers.

The northern West Bank city of Nablus has been a traditional center of Palestinian resistance to Israeli occupation.
The Palestinians want to establish an independent state in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza, territories occupied by Israel in the 1967 Middle East war.
The US-backed talks collapsed in 2014 and show no sign of revival while Israel maintains military control over millions of Palestinians and expands West Bank settlements, which many countries consider illegal.
